Στο σύγχρονο πανεπιστημιακό περιβάλλον, η ακαδημαϊκή βιβλιοθήκη εξελίσσεται από χώρο παροχής πληροφοριακών πόρων σε ενεργό εταίρο της ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας, υποστηρίζοντας την εκπαίδευση, την έρευνα και τη φοιτητική εμπειρία. Η εισήγηση παρουσιάζει τη στρατηγική εξωστρέφειας της Βιβλιοθήκης John S. Bailey του Deree – The American College of Greece, η οποία βασίζεται στην ανάπτυξη συνεργασιών και στην υλοποίηση δράσεων με στόχο την ενίσχυση της σχέσης της Βιβλιοθήκης με φοιτητές, διδάσκοντες και ερευνητές.
Η στρατηγική αυτή αναπτύσσεται σε τρεις βασικούς άξονες. Ο πρώτος αφορά την ευημερία και την υποστήριξη των φοιτητών, μέσα από δράσεις όπως το Wellness at the Library, σε συνεργασία με το Κέντρο Ευεξίας του Κολλεγίου, καθώς και τη συμμετοχή σε εκδηλώσεις υποδοχής και ενδυνάμωσης της φοιτητικής κοινότητας. Ο δεύτερος επικεντρώνεται στην ακαδημαϊκή και ερευνητική υποστήριξη, μέσω πρωτοβουλιών όπως η προώθηση των αναγνωριστικών ORCID, η συνδιοργάνωση Writing Retreats, η συμμετοχή στο Faculty Development Day και η τακτική παρουσία στο ακαδημαϊκό ενημερωτικό δελτίο του Ιδρύματος. Ο τρίτος άξονας αφορά τη συστηματική ψηφιακή παρουσία της Βιβλιοθήκης, αξιοποιώντας τα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης για την προβολή των υπηρεσιών της και την ενίσχυση της αλληλεπίδρασης με την ακαδημαϊκή κοινότητα.
Η εισήγηση αναδεικνύει ότι η εξωστρέφεια αποτελεί στρατηγική επιλογή που ενισχύει τη συμμετοχή, την εμπιστοσύνη και την αναγνωρισιμότητα της Βιβλιοθήκης, συμβάλλοντας ουσιαστικά στη δημιουργία ενός υποστηρικτικού ακαδημαϊκού οικοσυστήματος. Παρουσιάζονται παραδείγματα καλών πρακτικών και στοιχεία σχετικά με την απήχηση των δράσεων, αναδεικνύοντας τον διευρυμένο ρόλο της ακαδημαϊκής βιβλιοθήκης ως κόμβου συνεργασίας, μάθησης και ευημερίας.

In today's higher education environment, the academic library is evolving from a provider of information resources into an active partner of the academic community, supporting teaching, research, and the overall student experience. This presentation outlines the outreach strategy of the John S. Bailey Library at Deree – The American College of Greece, which is based on developing partnerships and implementing initiatives that strengthen the Library's relationship with students, faculty, and researchers.
This strategy is structured around three main pillars. The first focuses on student well-being and support through initiatives such as Wellness at the Library, implemented in collaboration with the College's Wellness Center, as well as the Library's participation in orientation and student engagement events. The second pillar centers on academic and research support through initiatives including the promotion of ORCID identifiers, the co-organization of Writing Retreats, participation in Faculty Development Day, and the Library's regular contribution to the institution's academic newsletter. The third pillar emphasizes the Library's systematic digital presence, leveraging social media platforms to promote its services and foster meaningful engagement with the academic community.
The presentation demonstrates that outreach is a strategic approach that enhances participation, trust, and the Library's visibility, while making a significant contribution to the development of a supportive academic ecosystem. Examples of good practices and evidence of the impact of these initiatives are presented, highlighting the expanding role of the academic library as a hub for collaboration, learning, and well-being.
