Η παρούσα εισήγηση σκοπεύει να αναδείξει την ολοκλήρωση της διαδικασίας σύνδεσης της Προσβάσιμης Πολυτροπικής Ηλεκτρονικής Βιβλιοθήκης για εντυποανάπηρους αναγνώστες AMELib με το Accessible Books Consortium (ABC). Η διασύνδεση αυτή, επιστέγασμα πολύχρονων προσπαθειών της Ομάδας Προσβασιμότητας του Συνδέσμου Ελληνικών Ακαδημαϊκών Βιβλιοθηκών (ΣΕΑΒ), επιτρέπει στην AMELib να προσφέρει σε φοιτητές, φοιτήτριες, ερευνητές και ερευνήτριες της ελληνικής ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας πρόσβαση σε μια ευρεία συλλογή τεκμηρίων σύμφωνα με τις πλέον σύγχρονες προδιαγραφές προσβασιμότητας. Την ίδια ώρα η συλλογή της AMELib γίνεται μέρος μιας παγκόσμιας βιβλιοθήκης, προσβάσιμη σε αναγνώστες και αναγνώστριες με εντυποαναπηρίες σε όλο τον κόσμο. Η ηλεκτρονική βιβλιοθήκη του ABC περιέχει πάνω από 1.200.000 έργα σε προσβάσιμους μορφότυπους, σε πάνω από 40 διαφορετικές γλώσσες. Η εξέλιξη αυτή στηρίζει έμπρακτα μέλη της ελληνικής ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας με εντυποαναπηρίες, προσφέροντάς τους τη δυνατότητα να προσεγγίσουν διεθνές ακαδημαϊκό (και μη) υλικό σε προσβάσιμες μορφές.
Το σύνολο των πλεονεκτημάτων της διασύνδεσης αναπτύσσεται στο πλαίσιο της εισήγησής μας. Παρουσιάζεται ο κατάλογος του ABC και το υλικό που προσφέρεται σε αυτόν, τόσο αναφορικά με τη γλώσσα του, όσο και με τους ποικίλους προσβάσιμους μορφότυπους. Ταυτόχρονα αναλύεται πώς οι υπηρεσίες προσβασιμότητας και τα μέλη της ελληνικής ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας με εντυποαναπηρίες μπορούν να αξιοποιήσουν το υλικό στην πράξη. Η δημοσιοποίηση των πρακτικών αυτών στο πλαίσιο της παρουσίασής μας, έχει ως στόχο την ευρεία ενημέρωση και επιμόρφωση μελών της ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας, για την ευρύτερη δυνατή διάχυση των υπηρεσιών μας σε άτομα με εντυποαναπηρίες στα ελληνικά πανεπιστήμια.

This presentation aims to highlight the completion of the process connecting AMELib, the Accessible Multi-modal Electronic Library for people with print disabilities, with the Accessible Books Consortium (ABC). This integration, a culmination of many years of effort by the Accessibility Unit of the Hellenic Academic Libraries Link (HEAL-Link), enables AMELib to offer students and researchers of the Greek academic community access to a broad collection of resources in line with the most up-to-date accessibility standards. At the same time, AMELib's collection becomes part of a global library, accessible to people with print disabilities worldwide. ABC's electronic library contains over 1,200,000 works in accessible formats, in more than 40 different languages. This development provides concrete support to members of the Greek academic community with print disabilities, offering them the opportunity to access international academic (and non-academic) material in accessible formats.
The full range of benefits of this integration will be developed within our presentation. We will present ABC's catalogue and the material it offers, both in terms of language and the various accessible formats available. At the same time, we will analyze how accessibility services and members of the Greek academic community with print disabilities can make practical use of this material. The dissemination of these practices as part of our presentation aims to broadly inform and educate members of the academic community, in order to achieve the widest possible reach of our services to people with print disabilities in Greek universities.
